New RadClerk Didactic in Chest Radiography debuts at NP program, with impressive learning outcomes

Can students develop meaningful chest radiography skills in just 5 hours? Early results from our new RadClerk Didactic with over 100 NP students show impressive, statistically significant improvements.

Over 100+ students at UTMB's NP program were among the first to engage with this new offering, and the results were stunning.

Less than 2 months after an enthusiastic debut at the 2025 NONPF Annual Conference in Denver, we've already completed our first large-scale rollout of our new RadClerk Didactics to more than 100 NP students at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB). The class represents two equally-sized cohorts: clinical-phase students from Family Nurse Practitioner, Adult Primary Care Nurse Practitioner, and Dual Family and Acute Care Nurse Practitioner tracks, and didactic-phase students in the Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner track.

Both cohorts completed the all-new RadClerk Didactic in Chest Radiography, which takes students about 5 hours to complete. The goal of our analysis was to demonstrate the educational impact of this program. We've just now crunched initial numbers from the clinical cohort, and we wanted to share the preliminary analysis with you now.

For context, the RadClerk Didactic in Chest Radiography is a brand-new 5-hour experience, designed by board-certified radiologist educators, specifically intended for students to start from zero exposure, and build solid foundations in radiology that support lifelong learning. The format is anchored by mini-lectures and 20 multiple choice questions, and capped with 5 AI-powered interactive cases that include readouts. The content covers both radiological anatomy and pathology, all aimed to maximally resonate with students who have limited or no prior experience in radiology.

RadClerk also offers 4 other new Didactic Experiences, including pediatric imaging, musculoskeletal radiography, neuroimaging, and abdominal imaging. The Didactic Experiences expand on the intensive RadClerk Clerkships which focus on extensive experience-driven learning. Both the RadClerk Didactic Experiences and Clerkships grant certificates representing different levels of proficiency, and both experiences can be completed remotely from the students' own laptops. Students from the full range of healthcare professions engage with RadClerk to learn practical radiology skills, including medical, nursing and PA programs.

To understand whether the RadClerk Didactic in Chest Radiography meaningfully impacted student learning, we administered one of two tests (A and B) before and after clinical-phase NP students completed the 5-hour Chest Radiography didactic. Group 1 (27 students) received test A as the pre-test and test B as the post-test. Group 2 (26 students) received test A as the post-test, and test B as the pre-test. This study design ensured that measured effects were robust across different exam types and orderings.

Each self-administered test included 10 image-based multiple choice questions, so that clinical-phase NP students could not trivially respond with the assistance of chatbots. In our first analysis, we compared the test scores in both groups, before versus after the RadClerk Didactic in Chest Radiography. The initial results were stunning:

RadClerk Didactics drive rapid learning

n=53

Clinical-year NP Students (53 in total) who worked independently with the RadClerk Chest Didactic Experience for ~5 hours experienced robust, statistically significant learning (p<0.005).

The graphs reveals robust, clinically and statistically significant improvements in chest radiography knowledge following engagement with the RadClerk didactic experience. These gains demonstrated consistency across both student cohorts and randomized assessment sequences, establishing confidence in the reliability of the educational outcomes. Most notably, students achieved these performance improvements with exceptional efficiency, developing meaningful chest radiography interpretation skills within just a few focused hours of learning using RadClerk didactics.

And this is just the beginning. We have more data analysis in the pipeline for this first cohort, and we have an equally large second cohort working with RadClerk didactics at this very moment. Stay tuned for updates as we roll out the data analysis - subscribe to this post to stay tuned if you haven't already.
